With over 25 years of policing experience, including more than 10 years in police training, Tim has designed and delivered training courses in community and race relations, cultural diversity and investigative interviewing to a wide range of professional practitioners including; Chief police officers, senior investigating officers, community liaison officers and patrol officers.
Tim has worked with public and private sector service providers in the areas of race and diversity for over a decade, while leading one of the UK’s highest profile Race and Diversity Units.
While working with the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) he has taught and lectured on race and diversity issues in eight countries including Poland, Hungary and Ukraine. Tim is also a member of the panel of experts convened to advise the European High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM) in the development of a comprehensive guidance document on policing in multi-ethnic societies.
Tim has also delivered training courses to investigators and managers from; the Serious Fraud Office, the London Stock Exchange, the Bank of England and several large commercial organisations including; Ernst & Young, KPMG, Price-Waterhouse-Coopers and Deloitte Touche.
Tim is regularly called upon to deliver strategic level briefings on race and diversity issues to senior police officers and police authority members.
Tim has been engaged as a diversity auditor for the British Transport Police, as well as participating in national audits in a variety of locales, including most recently, Romania.
Tim has participated in the development of community based policing standards through the OSCE, and has worked collaboratively with minority communities in addressing the safety and security concerns in the UK.
With a master's degree in Education awarded by the University of Hull, Tim is currently studying for an education doctorate at the University of London. With a strong interest in the theory as well as practice of police community relations, Tim is also a visiting lecturer at the London Metropolitan University.
