During his more than 25-year career as federal law enforcement officer, Bart McEntire directed major initiatives targeting violent behavior, organized crime, narcotics trafficking, and explosive offenses. His background includes investigating some of the most violent groups operating in the United States. He has successfully investigated and supervised investigations of ruthless drug trafficking organizations, outlaw motorcycle gang members, white supremacists, and an array of persons who killed or committed violent crime. He received awards and merits of commendation from the U.S. Department of Justice and private/public parties for his development of violent crime task forces in Ft. Worth, Texas and Roanoke, Virginia. He served as a Commanding Officer in the investigation of the murderous rampage occurring at the University of Virginia Tech. His effort in leading his agency, were commended by the Commonwealth of Virginia Assembly in House Joint Resolution No. 466 which recognized the efforts of the group he led.
He is a dynamic instructor focusing on the best practices for safety and law enforcement operations. For more than 20 years, he has taught at colleges, police symposiums, and private business functions. He works with law enforcement agencies and public/private entities to provide insight into the behavior of persons intending to commit violence. He has provided instruction to attendees of the NASCAR Security Summit and assists in providing security oversight to two NASCAR venues. His expertise in the areas of gang violence, complex investigation skills, undercover roles, violent behavior, and threats, are extensive and personal. Not only has he conducted research into violent behavior and threats, on three separate occasions he was personally a victim of death threats.
His investigations have been featured in numerous television programs and news articles, to include CNN, CMT, leading magazines and the Washington Post. He is the author of a 1995 publication titled Violent White Supremacist Groups. The publication was provided to the U.S. Congress for their understanding of the level of violence and threat posed by hate extremists to the U.S. In May 2009, he was featured in the Intelligence Report Magazine, a publication of the Southern Poverty Law Center, for his earlier underscore work and expertise in white supremacists groups.
He attended the University of South Carolina where he received both a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
