Mr. Scott retired after 30 + years of law enforcement, the last seven years as Chief of Police of the Boca Raton (FL) Police Department. Mr. Scott has created a very successful consulting company providing expert witness consultation to police departments and law firms on high liability police practices and procedures. Mr. Scott is a principal-partner of Scott-Roberts and Associates, LLC providing employment screening and background check services. Mr. Scott is an Adjunct Instructor for the following Universities: Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton), Lynn University (Boca Raton), Capella University and Keiser University. Mr. Scott teaches criminal justice and human resource courses.
Mr. Scott began his law enforcement career in 1978 with the North Miami (FL) Police Department. He soon transferred to the North Miami Beach (FL) Police Department in 1982 where he ascended through the ranks to the position of Assistant Police Chief and retired in 1998. Mr. Scott was then selected in October 1998 as the Chief of Police for the Boca Raton (FL) Police Department out of a field of 147 national candidates. Mr. Scott remained with the Boca Raton (FL) Police Department until 2006 when he transitioned into the private sector to create his expert witness consulting company called AJS Consulting, LLC.
Under Mr. Scott’s leadership the Boca Raton Police Department became nationally recognized as a premier law enforcement agency receiving numerous awards and accolades for innovative policing and services. Mr. Scott has received numerous awards during his career including from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2002 for his assistance with the investigation of the first bio-terrorist attack on United States soil when anthrax was released into the American Media Building, Inc. in Boca Raton in October 2001. Mr. Scott was selected by the former Governor of Florida to assist in promoting professionalism in law enforcement. Mr. Scott was recognized by the National Center for Women and Policing for promoting women in the workplace and received the coveted “Breaking the Glass Ceiling” award.
Mr. Scott has been a guest lecturer for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Southern Police Institute, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., the Commission on Florida Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and many other organizations.
Mr. Scott has a Masters Degree in Management, a B.A. degree in Psychology, and a Master’s Certificate in Human Resources. Mr. Scott is a graduate of the prestigious F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico Virginia.
