The RIHSC Vision
RIHSC believes that community safety and security is impacted by many areas, ranging from crime
and disorder, to the level of community engagement through to the openness and tolerance of a society.
In order to help groups achieve a greater and broader sense of community safety and security, RIHSC brings together academic theorists and real world practitioners. It is our belief, that by combining these two domains we can develop ideas and concepts that are both innovative and practical.
RIHSC is committed to the concept that community safety and security is a collaborative goal, and in a democratic society, this goal can only be reached through partnership. We believe that this partnership is most successful when government services, impacted communities, NGOs, media and political representatives come together, with identified goals and work interdependently towards those goals.
Therefore our recommendations and solutions tend to engage a number of these stakeholders. We also believe that successful solutions are those that engage stakeholders early in the process and in which they are involved in the process and design; in short, success comes from having a “stake” in success.
These are what we believe to be the critical elements to our success, not just in theory, but in practice, as many of the RIHSC executives have been directly involved in the creation of community safety solutions that embrace these principles.
When you look to RIHSC to help with concepts and ideas, these are the foundations that we draw upon, and upon which we believe is built our successes.
